He had been missing from his home since Thursday 26 June 1941.
His body was found at 10.40am on the Sunday morning, 29 June 1941 lying beneath a hedge alongside the north drive of Stratton Chase.
A gun was found lying across his legs and his little dog was standing guard over his body.
It was said that he had never been heard to threaten to take his own life.
An open verdict was returned.
He had lived in Silver Hill.
