Alfred Elsworth was found dead on a road.
He was found dead in the road at the junction of Tyrrel Street and Thornton Road in Bradford on the night of 21 February 1941.
His injuries were said to have been consistent with him having been run over by a car.
There had been a black-out in force at the time.
The police said that he died from head injuries. They said that the road had been slippery and that a heavy vehicle might have run over him after he had fallen down.
An open verdict was returned at his inquest on 2 May 1941.
He had lived in St Andrews Place in Bradford.
