Julia Theresa Kelly

Age: 24

Sex: female

Date: 30 Jan 1942

Place: 261 Pavilion Road, Chelsea

Julia Theresa Kelly died from an incomplete abortion.

She was taken ill at her flat at 261 Pavilion Road in Chelsea on 15 January 1942 and taken to Charing Cross Hospital where she died a fortnight later on 30 January 1942.

The pathologist that carried out her post-mortem said that there was no natural disease to account for her death, which he said was due to the results of an incomplete abortion. He added that there was no sign of an injury and that that fact suggested highly skilled interference.

She was a single woman and had been employed at a club in Pont Street in Chelsea.

She had come to London about five years earlier and had been working until the day that she was taken ill. It was heard that very little could be found out about her private affairs and that it appeared that she was a very quiet sort of girl.

The police said that there was no evidence that she had drawn out any money or gone to any particular place and added that they searched her room but could find nothing that bore on her death.

An open verdict was returned.
