The body of a newly born female child was found in the Grand Union Canal near Blomfield Road in Paddington.
The child was found by a boy that saw a parcel floating in the canal and pulled it out. After discovering that it was the body of a child he went for the police.
When a police surgeon arrived at the scene, he said that the child was dead.
The pathologist that carried out the post-mortem on the child said that it had had a separate existence and that its death was due to prematurity.
