Joyce Vickers

Joyce Vickers was knocked over by a vehicle that didn't stop on Christmas night 1943 and later died in hospital.

She had been walking along the gutter of the road whilst her companion, an American soldier, had been walking on the footpath when she was hit by a truck that didn't stop.

She was knocked over at about 11.20pm and taken to Chester Royal Infirmary where she died on 13 January 1944.

Joyce Vickers had lived in Well Lane, Mouldsworth, in Cheshire and was a shop assistant.
