Place: Willow Vale, Shepherds Bush

Hannah Hudson died from an instrumental abortion.

She died in Hammersmith Hospital a few days after admission from blood poisoning following a septic instrumental abortion.

Hannah Hudson's husband was a machine driller. He said that they had two children, one of whom was by Hannah Hudson's previous husband, and said that he didn't know that Hannah Hudson was pregnant.

He said that when he arrived home from work on 27 May 1943, he found her ill in bed and a doctor that was called out to see her had her removed to hospital.

A doctor at Hammersmith Hospital said that when Hannah Hudson was admitted she was admitted with a history of having a feverish chill and aches in her joints. He said that a provisional diagnosis put her illness down to acute rheumatism and said that an abortion was not suspected. However, he said that she had a sudden collapse and died on 31 May 1943.

The doctor that carried out Hannah Hudson's post-mortem stated that Hannah Hudson's illness was due to a septic instrumental abortion and that the interference must have occurred before 27 May 1943. He said that there was an infection that had spread to the blood stream and that her death was due to blood poisoning following septic instrumental abortion.

The doctor added that from the nature of an injury that he found that he thought that the interference might have been self-induced.

The police said that they carried out inquiries but found no one who might be suspected of having carried out the interference.

The coroner then recorded a verdict stating that Hannah Hudson died from blood poisoning due to a self-induced abortion.
