Sheiku Adams

Age: 49

Sex: male

Date: 25 Oct 2018

Place: Denyer House, Kentish Town, London

Sheiku Adams died after falling out of a third floor window at a block of flats in Kentish Town on Thursday 25 October 2018.

It was said that he had fallen out of the window whilst trying to avoid attackers during an aggravated burglary.

Four people were tried for his manslaughter but acquitted.

He had fallen out of the window at Denyer House in Highgate Road. He was taken to St Mary’s hospital after a neighbour called the emergency services just after 9pm but died soon after.

It was heard that quite a few neighbours had heard a commotion and had called the police.

His wife and teenage daughter had also been at the flat at the time.

The four men that were tried for his manslaughter were also charged with aggravated burglary and burglary in November 2018. They were:

  • 34-year-old man, no fixed address. Guilty of burglary.
  • 26-year-old man, Fordhouse Road, Wolverhampton. Guilty of aggravated burglary.
  • 32-year-old woman, Oxley Moor Road, Wolverhampton. Not guilty on all counts.
  • 35-year-old woman, Leslie Road, Wolverhampton. Guilty of burglary.

It was said that the people had forced their way into the flat armed with a knife and that it was a targetted attack.

Following his death the police said, 'Tragically a man has lost his life in what appears to have started as an aggravated burglary and ended in his death, after he fell from a third-floor window. It is very early in the investigation, but I believe two men forced their way into the flat armed with at least one knife. This appears to be a targeted attack and there will be people out there who will know who is responsible for the events that led to Sheiku’s death. I need to hear from those people as a matter of urgency. We need to understand the circumstances as to how Sheiku came to fall out of the window and we are appealing to any local residents who saw two men loitering around the area before 9pm to come forward. We will be working around the clock to piece together the circumstances of this case and bring those responsible to justice. What we need now is for witnesses and people with information to do the right thing and contact us as a matter of urgency. Any information, no matter how insignificant you think it is, will be treated in the strictest confidence and will assist us greatly in this investigation'.

Following the discovery of Sheiku Adams outside the flats the police cordoned off the front of Denyer House, blocking off the footpath and access to the building from Chetwynd Road, whilst they carried out a forensic examination of the area.

The trial took place at The Old Bailey in July 2019 resulting in all four people that were charged with manslaughter being found not guilty.

Sheiku Adams was known as Danny to neighbours and had been a devout Muslim.

Denyer House was a block of 44 flats and Sheiku Adams was said to have lived there for about 18 years.
