Abdullah Hammia was stabbed in the heart in Melody Road near Wandsworth Prep School in Wandsworth Common on Tuesday 25 April 2017 at about 7pm.

He had been stabbed in the shoulder with a 12 inch knife in Melody Road near the junction with Allfarthing Lane during a row with several other people.

Paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance was called out to the scene but he was declared dead there at 7.30pm.

Four people were charged with his murder earlier on in the investigation but none were tried for murder and seven people in total were arrested in relation to the stabbing.

Two 22-year-old men were later convicted of perverting the course of justice in relation to his murder but no one was convicted of his murder. One of the men was said to have driven a VW Passat car that was thought to have been involved in the stabbing and the other person was said to have cleaned it. One of them was sentenced to five years and 10 months and the other to 18 months’ imprisonment.

The people charged with murder were:

  • 30-year-old man.
  • 29-year-old woman.
  • 40-year-old man.
  • 21-year-old man.

Abdullah Hammia had arrived in Melody Road in a car which was part of a convoy of other cars. He had been in a grey Hyundai car with two other men and they had got out in Melody Road near the junction with Quarry Road and he became involved in a heated argument with a group of other men, one of who was noted for having got out of the black Volkswagen Passat which the two men convicted of perverting the course of justice had been associated with.

The argument in the street then escalated and Abdullah was stabbed in the heart.
