Taofeek Lamidi was stabbed multiple times on New Year's Eve 2017 in Memorial Avenue near West Ham station.  

He died from a stab wound to the heart.

He was found at 7.37pm and pronounced dead at the scene at 8.22pm.

He was stabbed two days before his 21st birthday. His murder was noted as being one of four separate stabbings across London on that day.

The police said that they knew that Taofeek Lamidi had been with a group of young men at the time he was stabbed and said that they needed to trace them. They also said, 'Memorial Avenue is a busy residential area close to West Ham station. I know that there were people in the area who witnessed the incident, and I need them to come forward'. The police noted that no one that had been there when he was stabbed had come forward.

Taofeek Lamidi was of Nigerian heritage but it was noted that his mother was dead and that there were none of his parents at his funeral. His brother had been deported back to Nigeria. His funeral had been arranged by his social worker and friends.

He was described as a talented footballer who was involved in fitness and who had planned to become a personal trainer.
