George Parker

Age: 65

Sex: male

Date: 22 Apr 1944

Place: Liverpool Docks

George Parker was found dead in a bunk on board a tug in the Liverpool docks.

He died from multiple head and arm injuries inflicted by some blunt instrument.

A firewatcher said that he had been working near the tug in which George Parker was employed on 21 April 1944 and had gone on board at 11.20pm, at which time he saw George Parker asleep in his bunk, noting that he could hear him snoring.

He said that he then fell asleep on a bunk opposite George Parker and said that when he later woke up at 3am on 22 April 1944, George Parker was still snoring.

However, he said that at 7am when he woke up and called to George Parker, he saw that there was blood on his head and on his pillow.

He said that he then went off and informed another firewatcher and the police were then called.

A verdict of murder by some person or persons unknown was returned.

George Parker had lived in Melville Place, Liverpool.
