Francis Donoghue was run over on the York Road at the junction with Selby Road in Leeds on the Saturday night 14 October 1944 at about 10.20pm.
He was knocked down by a saloon car that didn't stop.
The police said that they made investigations to find the car but had been unable to trace it or the driver. They said that they thought that the car would have had a damaged front.
Francis Donoghue had lived in Neville Crescent.
