Sex: male

Date: 24 Jun 1944

Place: Sherdley Road, St Helens

Joseph Fogarty died from some form of acute corrosive poisoning.

He was found dead in bed at his home on 24 June 1944.

The police surgeon that carried out his post-mortem said that his death was apparently due to some form of acute corrosive poisoning, noting that it was not necessarily of a painful character.

An open verdict was returned. The coroner said that it was strange that, even if the poison had been taken accidently, why nothing was said about it, noting that there was nothing to show how it had been taken.

Joseph Fogarty had been a colliery day wageman.
