Wilson Charles Brown

Age: 39

Sex: male

Date: 24 Sep 1944

Place: Southam Rugby Road

Wilson Charles Brown was found lying unconscious on the road on Sunday 24 September 1944, entangled with his bicycle and was taken to hospital where he later died.

He had been cycling along the Southam to Rugby road at the time.

His inquest heard that he was found with his legs entangled with his cycle and suffering from a grievous head injury. He had been lying there alone until a car driven by a woman arrived on the scene. It was heard that there was no one about and no one had seen the incident occur.

The inquest heard that enquiries were made regarding any traffic that might have been on the road at the time that might have caused the accident but that the evidence was largely circumstantial and the only thing that could be done was to return an open verdict.

Wilson Brown had been a Lance Corporal in the Royal Engineers and had lived at The Stables in Bourton-on-Dunsmore.
