Ernest Thomas Bolwell was found lying injured in the road in Newbridge on 14 October 1944.
A passenger in a workmen's bus said that the bus that he had been in had been driving down the road and then suddenly swerved and stopped and that when they got out they saw Ernest Bolwell lying in the road and blood stains about two feet away from him.
He later died from laceration of the brain due to a fractured skull.
An open verdict was returned.
He was a collier and was noted for having worked as a collier for 46 years.
