The doctor that carried out her post-mortem said that he could find no signs of mechanical interference.

However, the coroner said that he was not satisfied that they knew all that they ought to know and an open verdict was returned.

Veronica Bilsborough had lived at 73 Snape Street in Blackburn but died at the infirmary.

She was married.
