Adam Setterfield

Adam Setterfield was run over in Laurel Crescent in Thornley.

He had been out playing and had gone to join a friend when he was hit by a car that had been going at about 60mph

The car, which was thought to have been a Vauxhall Astra didn't stop and was never traced. The inquest heard that there were no signs that the car had even braked. The pathologist said that, 'The driver would have been very, very aware he had been involved in an accident'.

Adam Setterfield died from a fractured skull.

The police said that they spent more than 5,400 police man hours trying to trace the car and its driver.

An open verdict was returned at his inquest.
