Kevin Fox was shot with his own pistol in the Memory Lane pub in Plaistow on Saturday night, 4 July 1991.
He was taken to hospital where he died from head and chest injuries.
Three other men were found injured by the police in the pub, two of them suffering from gunshot wounds to the stomach.
Following the incident, the police arrested seven men and four women.
Kevin Fox was said to have been a criminal and the police said that one theory considered him as the perpetrator of the attack.
Kevin Fox had lived in Lillechurch Road in Dagenham.
