Anne Manns

Age: 60

Sex: female

Date: 21 Aug 1919

Place: Clapton, East London

Anne Manns was found dead in a railway tunnel at Clapton.

She was a housekeeper, formerly of Twickenham.

A clerk with the Great Eastern Railway said that he had been travelling with some other passengers in the same compartment as Anne Manns on the Thursday night and that whilst he was speaking to a companion, he heard someone exclaim, 'Oh, she is gone'. He said that when he looked around, he saw that Anne Manns had disappeared. He said that she had been standing against the door and leaning on the windowsill.

He said that he reported the matter when the train got into Clapton Station and handed in her bag.

Anne Manns was later found dead in the railway tunnel at Clapton.

An open verdict was returned.
