Yaugoub Hakimi was found strangled in his flat on 3 May 1992.
It was thought that he had been murdered during a bungled burglary.
Three people were charged with his murder but there are no known convictions. They were:
Yaugoub Hakimi had lived above a takeaway kebab shop run by his son in St Thomas Street, Weymouth.
He had been bound and gagged and left trussed up on the floor after which the burglars ransacked the home.
It was said that before leaving the property that the burglars strangled him.
The police said that they thought that he had been killed in a burglary gone wrong.
They appealed for a couple that had been seen walking along the Weymouth esplanade around early on the Sunday morning to come forward.
Yaugoub Hakimi had been Iranian.
