John Andrew Shippam was found dead with gunshot wounds at a flat on Chiltern Way in Bestwood on Thursday 7 November 2002.
He had been assaulted at a bonfire night event at the Anchor pub, in Gunthorpe several days before.
It was thought that his murder was the result of a feud between rival criminal gangs and infighting between gang members.
John Shippam was found dead in his flat by a neighbour and the police were called at 10.30am. He had only lived there for a few weeks, having just recently moved out of his family home.
It was thought that he had been shot between 3.30am and 10.30am on 7 November 2002.
The police described his killing as 'a very brutal murder of a young man who had no chance of defending himself'.
