Harry Payansky was found in the cellar of a bomb-damaged house in Hampstead on Sunday 10 February 1946.

He had gone missing in April 1943.

His remains were described as skeletal but later identified and had been living in Hornsey Road, Islington at the time that he had gone missing.

The pathologist that carried out his post-mortem said that rats had gnawed at his body and that there was no indication as to the cause of his death.

An open verdict was returned.
