Otto Muller

Age: unknown

Sex: male

Date: 2 Dec 1946

Place: Cobbetts Farm, Kineton, Arlescote

Otto Muller was found dead in a field with internal injuries.

He was a German prisoner of war and had been working at Cobbetts Farm in Kineton.

The farmer said that he sent him into a field to get a horse, but he failed to return and when he went to look for him, he found him dead in the field and the horse there still at liberty.

It was said that the only mark of injury found on him was a small abrasion on his left thumb.

However, his post-mortem revealed that he died from a ruptured liver. His liver had been torn almost in two, and there was a laceration to his right kidney.

The doctor noted however that Otto Muller had a tumour affecting his lung and pericardium which he said, in his opinion would have cause his death in five years, although that was not the cause of his death.

The coroner said that there seemed to be no other explanation than that the horse had kicked him and caused his internal injuries which had resulted in his death before any bruising could occur, but said that there was no evidence to support that and so returned an open verdict.
