Peter Gouldstone died from injuries received during an burglary at his home on 5 November 2018.

He was found injured in his house at 85 Evesham Road, Enfield on 6 November 2018 and died a few weeks later in hospital on 1 December 2018.

He was found by his son on 6 November 2018 and the emergency services were called out at about 10.06am. He was found in a semi-conscious state in his bedroom.

He had suffered from two bleeds on the brain and extensive bruising over his body. His post mortem stated that he died from a complication of a traumatic head injury.

It was said that Peter Gouldstone, who was house-bound, had been dragged from his bed whilst he had been asleep and attacked and punched in the eye. The burglars had then stolen his television, said to have been worth £10 and some personal possessions. The television was a 26 inch black Panasonic TV, model TX – L26X10B. His bedroom had been searched with cupboards and drawers emptied.

The burglars had entered through his back door which was found to be broken open. It was thought that he had been attacked within a 20-hour window between 2pm on 5 November 2018 and when he was discovered at 10.06am on 6 November 2018. However, the police said that they thought that it as more likely that the burglars had broken into his home and attacked him under the cover of darkness during the evening or night.

CCTV footage was later discovered from another nearby property which showed two men in a garden at about 8.30pm on 5 November 2018. They were said to have got into the back garden of the property and to have looked through windows and tried to open doors before leaving and it was thought that they might have then gone on to burgle Peter Gouldstone's home.

The police said, 'very keen" to speak to at least three men believed to have been involved in the attempted burglary. We are appealing for anyone who thinks they may know these individuals to get in touch with any information, no matter how small'.
