Shane Fox

Age: 26

Sex: male

Date: 1 Dec 2018

Place: Nest Farm Crescent, Hemmingwell Estate, Wellingborough

Shane Fox was stabbed to death in Nest Farm Crescent on the Hemmingwell Estate, Wellingborough at about 2am on 1 December 2018.

He was stabbed in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He had been with another man at the time of the attack who had also been stabbed although he was not seriously injured.

They had been coming from the Nest Farm Road direction across a footpath through a grassed area heading towards the flats where he lived and were attacked by the car park.

The police arrested four people but no charges were made. They were:

  1. A 22-year-old man, arrested on 5 December 2018 and who in March 2019 was described as being still under investigation.
  2. A 36-year-old man, arrested on Tuesday 2 April 2019.
  3. A 39-year-old man, arrested on 2 December 2018 but released without charge.
  4. Unknown.

However, the police added in November 2019 that they didn't think that they had identified the suspect, saying, 'We've arrested four people but unfortunately we haven't found somebody that we believe is our suspect'.

The police said that they were looking for two witnesses:

  1. A man was seen banging on Shane Fox 's front door at about 9pm on 30 November 2018. He was described as having been 'shouting aggressively' and said to have been white, about 5ft 7in to 5ft 8in tall, with a slim build and a bald head. He had been wearing a blue short-sleeved T-shirt and dark blue jeans.
  2. A person was seen in CCTV nearby at the Well Cafe at about 1.55am. The man was described as black, in his 20s and wearing a dark-coloured puffa-style jacket with horizontal stitching. The police said that they throught that the man in the CCTV was the suspect.

Shane Fox had lived on the Hemmingwell Estate and it was thought that his murder had been related to an incident there earlier on.

His mother said that she thought that someone locally was hiding something. The police said, 'somebody on this estate knows something. Someone's hiding something because there's no way that someone could stab someone and act normal, not in my book anyway'. A police appeal later said, 'Hemmingwell is known to be a close-knit area and it’s hoped that there will be knowledge about who was involved in this murder from within the community'.
