Brian Fox

Brian Fox died after a fight at a taxi rank.

A 25-year-old man was tried for his culpable homicide but acquitted.

It was heard that Brian Fox, who had been out to celebrate Hogmanay had gone up to two women that were fighting to calm things down. He was heard to approach them, saying, 'Calm down'.

However, it was heard that the man tried then punched him, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head. A man that had been with the man that knocked Brian Fox down then hit Brian Fox as he lay on the ground.

Both the men were charged with killing Brian Fox, it being said that they had acted together. However, the other man pleaded guilty to assault.

The man that knocked Brian Fox down said that he had acted in self-defence.

Following the acquittal, the judge said, 'Mr Fox appears to have done absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever'.
