Age: 3 months
Date: 26 Apr 1947
Tony Foster was found dead in his cot Saturday 26 April 1947.
His death had been due to heart failure caused by asphyxia, but the coroner said that it was difficult to understand how the asphyxia was caused, although noted that there was no suggestion of violence.
His mother said that Tony Foster seemed to be all tight when she went to bed but said that she noticed that something was wrong the following morning at 7am and summoned a friend who was a nurse.
It was noted that there were no bedclothes in such a position that could have prevented Tony Foster from breathing although a policeman said that he found a few strands of fibres on his upper lip that might have come from a blanket.
An open verdict was returned.
