James Hyndman

Age: 41

Sex: male

Date: 10 Mar 1947

Place: Crianlarich to Ardlui Road, Falls of Falloch, Perthshire

James Hyndman was found dead at the side of the Crianlarich to Ardlui Road with his head and hand blown away on 10 March 1947.

His body was found by two teachers from Glasgow.

There was no trace of an explosion where he was found although it was said that detonators were found in his pockets and that it was thought that a similar one had caused his death.

It was said that he had had a severe head injury consistent with a detonator having been near his mouth, or perhaps held between his teeth.

He had lived with his wife and two children in a converted bus in Glen Falloch near Ardlui and was a hydroelectric work at Loch Sloy. It was said that he had lived in the bus at various sites near Perth until a few months before.

The police said that whilst his death remained a mystery, they had discounted any theory of foul play. No post-mortem was carried out.

He was buried at Killin Cemetery on Wednesday 12 March 1947.
