Louisa Merritt

Age: 46

Sex: female

Date: 1 Dec 1906

Place: New Road, Gravesend, Kent

Louisa Merritt died from arsenical poisoning.

Analysis of her stomach by a Home Office analyst found that she had the presence of 4.5 grains of arsenic in her body. It was noted that two grains were generally a fatal dose.

The police said that they were unable to find any indication about how the poison had been administered and noted that she had lived on affectionate terms with her husband and family.

An open verdict was returned with a note stating that she had died from arsenical poisoning but that there was no evidence to show how the poison had been administered.

Louisa Merritt was the wife of a hairdresser.
