Age: 59

Sex: male

Date: 2 Nov 2019

Place: Oaks Lane, Aldborough Hatch, Iflord

Vladislavs Radionovs was found dead by a road in Ilford on Saturday 2 November 2019.

He was found by a member of the public at 6.12am on a grass verge on farmland leading up to stables at Aldborough Hatch Farm in Oaks Lane. He was identified by his fingerprints.

He had suffered a fatal brain haemorrhage that was thought to have been caused by a traumatic head injury and it was thought that he had been dumped in Oaks Lane afterwards. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police said that they thought that he had been assaulted elsewhere and then dumped on the verge and that they thought that he had been assaulted sometime between Friday evening, 1 November 2019 and the Saturday morning when he was found.

The police said that they were keen to speak to anyone that might have been in the area at the time such as dog walkers or cyclists.

The police also appealed for anyone that knew Vladislavs Radionovs that might have seen him in the weeks before his death.

Following the discovery of his body the police arrested people on suspicion of murder and charged another with conspiracy to pervert the cause of justice and theft of a phone, but nothing more is known.

Vladislavs Radionovs had been a Latvian national and had been sleeping rough in the Ilford area. He was known to have previously used the Rydale Night Shelter and Salvation Army services. He was also known at the Welcome Centre in St Mary's Road, Ilford, a representative of which said, 'Vlad was known as a gentle giant although he had the firmest handshake I've ever known! Vlad will be missed by Staff, volunteers and clients. Rest in eternal peace, Vladislavs'. They said that they had been working with Vladislavs Radionovs since December 2011.

When Vladislavs Radionovs was found he had been topless and his body was covered with a green army-style sleeping bag.

When the emergency services were called out they noted that he had superficial marks on his forehead, and grazes on his right elbow, right buttock and lower back.

His post mortem later stated that his cause of death was a traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage. It was noted that a subarachnoid haemorrhage was a form of stroke most commonly brought on by a head injury.

He was said to have previously played Ice Hockey at an Olympic Level in Latvia and to have won a lot of medals.
