Cabdullahi Hassan

Age: 20

Sex: male

Date: 26 Jul 2019

Place: Ainsworth House, Boundary Road, South Hampstead, London

Cabdullahi Hassan was stabbed at Ainsworth House in Boundary Road, South Hampstead shortly before midnight on 25 July 2019.

He was found with another man who had a stab wound to his leg.

Cabdullahi Hassan died about an hour later in hospital.

Two men were tried for his murder but acquitted. The men were both cousins from Westminster.

It was said that there had been an earlier altercation in the entrance of South Hampstead railway station at around 5pm, during which Cabdullahi Hassan had punched a man and that the attack on him in the Abbey Road estate had been in revenge.

A detective said, 'I am specifically appealing to anyone who has information about what happened at South Hampstead station. It was rush hour on the hottest day of the year. I have CCTV which shows lots of commuters nearby. Were you one of them? Did you see or hear what was happening? Please contact us and tell us what you saw'.

The police said that they were also looking into a third assault in Lancefield Street in Westminster about 15 minutes after Cabdullahi Hassan was stabbed, in which a 20-year-old man was stabbed in the leg. His wound was said to have been non-critical.

At the trial it was heard that the man that Cabdullahi Hassan had hit at South Hampstead railway station had been in a car with the two cousins from Westminster who were on trial and that after the murder he had fled the country, as did some other people that were involved.

One of the cousins on trial admitted to having driven to the estate but denied that he had known that violence was about to take place.

He said that the man that Cabdullahi Hassan was said to have previously hit had instructed him to follow a car at junctions and that that led them to the estate. The cousin said that he later felt betrayed by the man, saying, 'I was basically thinking, I did him a favour and he’s put me in this position, my cousin is injured because of him'.

The other cousin, who was stabbed during the incident, equally said that he had no prior knowledge that violence was about to take place. He said that he had gone along and had got out of the car on the estate to have a cigarette and that as he was having a smoke that the confrontation, which involved other people, started nearby.

Cabdullahi Hassan had lived in Abbey Road.
