Victor Douglas Templeman

Age: 3

Sex: male

Date: 17 Jan 1948

Place: West Dock Avenue, Hull

Victor Douglas Templeman was found injured in the road and taken to the Victoria Children's Hospital where he died shortly after admission.

He had head injuries. A doctor said that his cause of death was shock and haemorrhage following fractures of the skull and lacerations of the brain.

He was found in the gutter at the corner of West Dock Street and Gillett Street about six yards from his doorstep.

It was thought that he had been run over by a car or a lorry. The police said that they had had information suggesting that a green lorry might have been involved.

His mother said that he was in the habit of sitting on their front doorstep 'for hours'. She said that she had only been away for a few minutes when she was called out to see what had happened.

He had lived in Gillet Street in Hull.

The police made house-to-house inquiries and appeals were made over the local radio relay system and press reports made calling for witnesses were published, but no one came forward.

An open verdict was returned.
