Baby

Age: several days

Sex: male

Date: 10 Dec 1948

Place: Torquay, Devon

The body of a baby was found in the attic of a house in Torquay.

It had died from a fractured skull. The child was said to have been several days old.

The police said that they had been unable to find any definite evidence as to whose child it was or in what circumstances the body came to be where it was found. A policeman said that he had interviewed every person in the house and was satisfied that none of them had anything to do with the child. He added that he was also ascertained that none of the people that had been the house at the time the body was deposited had any knowledge or could give any information as to how the body came to be there.

The coroner said that the name of the house was not being revealed because of police investigations.

An open verdict was returned.
