The body of a 5-month-old baby girl was found in a brown paper bag at the rear of a cinema in Oakfield Road, Liverpool on 31 March 1949.
Its death was stated to be due to a fractured skull. A doctor said that the child's fractured skull must have been caused by violence but could have been caused by it falling out of bed.
At the inquest the police said that they had been unable to trace the child’s mother or the person that had put it there.
