Baby

The body of a newly-born female baby was found in a pond off Blackley New Road in Blackley.

The body was found by two 9-year-old schoolgirls who were setting free some tadpoles that they had caught.

It was in a brown paper parcel.

The cause of death was said to have been due to strangulation.
