John Robbins

Age: 33

Sex: male

Date: 21 Mar 2018

Place: Tile Hill, Coventry

John Robbins disappeared on 21 March 2018. He was reported missing on 22 March 2018.

It was thought that he had been kidnapped and tortured and then murdered. His body has not been found.

His suspected murder is connected with the murder of Daniel Shaw who was shot dead in Tile Hill, Coventry, a few days later on 25 March 2018. It was thought that when he was kidnapped he had been taken to Daniel Shaw's home in Torrington Avenue where he was tortured before being murdered and then disposed of somewhere.

The police said that they thought that John Robbins had been kidnapped on 21 March 2018 from a DIY store called Sheppards in Broad Lane and then taken to Daniel Shaw’ flat, but that he had gone via the Lime Tree Park social club.

The police said that Crackley Lane was also a place of interest in their investigation.

A white 1 series BMW was found burnt out on 22 March 2018 at Crackley Woods and John Robbins's dog was later found running free in Crackley Lane. John Robbins's dog was called Rogan.

The police carried out extensive searches in Crackley Woods for John Robbins's body but without luck.

However, the police noted that neither Johnny Robbins nor Daniel Shaw had previously known each other.

The police said that they thought that knew who did it but that because people in the area that could give them the evidence required to make a conviction were not talking that were had been unable to proceed with any charges.

Two men were suspected of his murder and as of October 2018 they were both considered possibly murdered themselves. One of the men was also wanted in connection with the murder of Daniel Shaw whilst the second man was only wanted in connection with John Robbins's suspected murder. The police said in October 2018 that following a proof-of-life inquiry that it was thought that both men had either taken themselves off the radar or were dead. However, on 2 December 2018 a man was arrested in Spain and brought back to the United Kingdom in relation to the murders but it is not known who he was or whether any progress in the case was made as a result of the arrest.

It was said that neither of them had been seen or heard of since March 2018 and the police noted that they had also received information to the effect that both of them had come to an untimely end.

The police said that the two men were known to be part of a gang that was involved in criminal activities, including drugs and that they were said to have had a grip on the area such that people that had called the police anonymously and told them what had happened were too afraid to provide that intelligence in evidential format. However, the police said that they had been unable to draw any links between the men's gang involvement and John Robbins.

The police added that they thought that a few other people had also been involved in John Robbins's murder, but noted that it wouldn't be more than a handful of other people.

Six men were arrested in April 2024 for conspiracy to murder in relation to both the murders of Daniel Shaw and Johnny Robbins.
