James Taylor

Age: 34

Sex: male

Date: 7 Feb 2019

Place: Addison Street, Liverpool City Centre

James Taylor was shot at about 8pm on Thursday 7 February 2019 in Addison Street, Liverpool.

He had been shot 20 times. His murder was described as a street execution. It was thought that he had been murdered as part of a gangland dispute, it being claimed that a crime gang from the L5 area in Liverpool had organised it. The hit was described as carefully planned.

It was said that the gunman had crept up to James Taylor as he sat in his car before shooting him.

He had been in his Mercedes Veto car, parked in Addison Street, waiting for his daughter who was at the Marybone Youth and Community Association where she had had a dance class.

It was thought that the gunmen had been in a black Ford Fiesta car which was found on fire about fifteen minutes later in Summer Seat, Vauxhall.

The police said that they were also trying to trace a White Ford Transit van that was seen in Freemasons Row shortly after the murder, stating that they thought that the gunmen had made their escape in it. The van had distinctive orange and yellow chevrons on the rear and was a 2006-2014 model.

Other vehicles that were seen in the area at the time included:

  1. Blue taxi.
  2. Grey coloured Audi A3 'Black Edition' car.
  3. Dark coloured Land Rover.

Seventeen people were arrested during the murder investigation but no one was charged.

One of the people arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder was a Liverpool businessman who was said to have been well known in the property and development community in Liverpool and who had at the time been serving a prison sentence for an unrelated, but serious matter.

James Taylor had six children and was from West Derby but had grown up in Everton.
