Ellen Mildred Barrell died from acute gastritis and acute engorgement of the kidneys which was thought might have been caused by an irritant poison.
Her stomach was examined for poisonous substances, but nothing was found. Bottles were also examined, but nothing of a poisonous or suspicious character was found either.
Letters that she had written were examined but nothing in them suggested anything that bore on her death.
An open verdict was returned.
