Annie Louisa White

Age: 62

Sex: female

Date: 1 Jan 1950

Place: Brook Street, Brentwood, London

Annie Louisa White was found injured in the road and later died in Harold Wood Hospital.

She was discovered by a taxi-driver at about 12.20am on 1 January 1950 as he was driving towards Romford from Brentwood lying in the street near the Golden Fleece public house near the junction with Brook Street.

He said that when he saw her, he pulled up and saw that she was injured and called for an ambulance.

He noted that three cars had passed him before.

She had lived in Westwood Avenue in Brentwood. Her husband, who was a factory shift manager, said that he and Annie White had been out for two or three drinks at the Golden Fleece public house for New Year's Eve and that there was a pretty large crowd there and that people stated to leave after midnight. He said that whilst they were leaving he didn't see Annie White go out whilst he was still saying goodbye to his friends and said that when he got outside he saw a large crowd and found that his wife had been injured.
