Date: 7 Mar 1990
Place: Oldbury Road, Smethwick
Andrew Key was knocked down by a car on the Oldbury Road on 4 March 1990 and later died in Sandwell District Hospital on Wednesday 7 March 1989.
He had earlier been dropped off by his father after a night out at the Two Brewers public house in Queens Road, Smethwick.
The police said 'From examining items of glass and headlight lenses found at the scene we now believe the vehicle to be a Nissan Sunny made between 1982 and 1986. It is highly likely it is red but due to sodium lighting on that road it could be a lighter colour. We are anxious to trace his vehicle and we would appreciate reports from the public of any sightings of abandoned vehicles of this type. We would also welcome calls from anyone who deals in spare parts who may have had requests for part for this type of vehicle'.
The police added that they thought that the car's nearside window, headlamp and indicator lens were damaged in the impact.
