The body of a newly-born baby was found wrapped up in a sheet in pig swill at the Wembley Council Disposal Works in Alperton Lane on Wednesday 9 January 1952.

The inquest heard that the child had died from asphyxia due to want of attention at birth.

The pathologist said that there were no marks of violence on the child which he said had lived for about five or ten minutes. He added that the child would have probably survived if it had been properly treated.

The police said that they had carried out inquiries about the child’s origin, but without success which they said was expected as the pig swill could have come from so many districts, including Wembley, Harrow, Ealing and Hendon.
