A newly-born female child was found on the porch of a church in Golders Green, London on 18 December 1951.
The child was either dead or died shortly after being found.
It was in an attache case along with a religious pamphlet that contained two £1 notes and the message, 'Please take care of it'.
The child had been dressed in a nightgown and wrapped up in a blanket.
The child was baptised by the priest at the church.
The post mortem showed that the child had suffered the collapse of both lungs and the coroner said, 'It does not look as though leaving the child in the porch has hastened her death in any way'.
The police said that they were unable to trace the child's mother.
