William Moore

William Moore was found dead on a railway line at Beaconsfield.

He had worked on secret aircraft projects and had complained that 'they' were trying to get him to do things, but it was not known who 'they' were.

An open verdict was returned at his inquest.

William Moore had lived in Downing Drive, Greenford in Middlesex and was described as a 'flight simulator' and was employed on secret work at an aircraft factory in Southwark.

His father said that he was a Bachelor of Science and said that he spent all his spare time studying.

It was said that he had recently been staying away from work on Thursdays and it was heard that his only explanation was that 'They want me to do something'.

Following his inquest, his parents said that they only had two questions:

1. 'Why did our son die'.
2. 'Who were 'they' that he talked about'.

It was heard that William Moore had joined the Communist party when he was 17, but his mother described it as boyish enthusiasm and said that he didn't belong for long and later lost all interest in politics.

William Moore's brother said that William Moore had told him that he had been 'more or less forced to sign something that someone had dictated to him', but that he wouldn't say who that someone was or anything more about the matter.
