The body of a newly-born female child was found near the railway lines at Roade on Wednesday 20 May 1953.
The body was found wrapped up in old newspaper about 545 yards north of Roade Station.
The police said that they had been unable to trace the child's mother.
The child had head wounds but the post mortem stated that it had died from want of skilled attention at birth.
The pathologist said that the child had been capable of living had it received attention and that he found marks of violence on the child's body that were post mortem. He said that the child had been born about 30 hours prior to his examination and had had a separate existence from its mother.
