The body of a newly born child was found on a bomb site in Elsham Road, West Kensington on the evening of Saturday 9 May 1953.
The pathologist that examined the child's body said that it had been subjected to considerable heat and that it was so badly burnt that it was impossible to give a cause of death or to say whether the child had had a separate existence. He noted that he did not think that microscopic examination of the body would reveal anything further.
The Coroner returned a verdict stating that the child came to its death from unascertainable causes.
