Steven Cooper went missing from his home in Scar Lane, Golcar on 21 January 2008.
His blue Ford Focus car was found a week later on a dirt track near Loch Laggan on the A86 in Moy, Inverness.
He had gone missing on his 47th birthday.
He had suffered from Marfan Syndrome, which was described as a rare genetic condition and to have sometimes used a walking stick. His condition had left him with a very gruff voice due to his need for a feeding tube down his throat.
A receipt in his car showed that he had bought some food and a bottle of whisky before he left for Loch Laggan.
However, his family said that there were unanswered questions over how he had been able to buy the items and that they thought that someone else had more information.
