The body of a newly-born male child was found in a shallow grave on the common land in Redhill on 5 June 1962.
The cause of death was head injuries and it had superficial bruising on its forehead.
It was found on common land near White Post Hill.
An inquest was held at Reigate on 15 June 1962, where the jury returned a verdict of murder by some person or persons unknown.
No further developments were made.
It was noted that another child's body was found 200 yards away in May 1962 and it was considered that they were almost certainly connected crimes, but were recorded as separate crimes as there was no positive evidence to connect the two.
