Terence Dunn was attacked on 18 June 2019 and later died from his injuries on 24 September 2019.
He was attacked in Wapshare Road, Norris Green at about 3.40pm but managed to make his way home after which the emergency services were called out to him.
He died three months later from complications stemming from the assault.
The person that attacked him was described as white, 5ft 7in tall, of slim build, with blonde hair and wearing dark clothing with a hood which was up.
He was thought to have been armed with a golf club.
A person challenged the attacker, but he ran off down a cut-through onto Kilrea Close where it was thought that he might have gone off down the loop line.
Four people were arrested in connection with his murder but released on bail while investigations continued. They were:
The police said that Terence Dunn was well known in the Norris Green area and that it seemed that he had been specifically targeted, adding, ‘We suspect the offender may have had a grudge against him and was trying to send a strong message’.
The police later released CCTV footage of a man carrying a golf club who was thought to have been his attacker.
