Ovidijus Aukselis

Age: 22

Sex: male

Date: 28 Jan 2017

Place: Riverside Park, Mansbridge Road, Southampton, Hampshire

The remains of Ovidijus Aukselis were found in Riverside Park in Southampton on 28 January 2017.

He had been missing for five months and had just broken up with his girlfriend a few weeks before he went missing. It was also noted that before he went missing that he had left his girlfriend a goodbye note in his room.

He was last seen by his housemate at their home in Arnold Road at 6am on 16 July 2016.

His post mortem was inconclusive due to the amount of time that he had been dead.

His body was found by a man that had been walking through the park with his family on 28 January 2017. The man said, 'We had decided to go on a metal detector hunt in the park. At first everyone thought it was a joke, the bones were just scattered all around'.

The police said that there was no evidence of any third party involvement, and noted that they found what appeared to be ligature marks on a nearby tree.

The Coroner said, 'It is possible that he may have gone to the scene and died of exposure, but I do not think that is likely', and recorded a narrative conclusion saying that he thought that Ovidijus Aukselis had hung himself although the evidence was inconclusive.

He had been a forklift driver and had lived in Southampton and was from Lithuania, having moved to the United Kingdom when he was 15 years old.
