Sidney Dyas was found dead on a railway line near Riglis in Cadoxton, Barry about a mile away from his home on the evening of 7 August 1955.
He had been decapitated and had his legs cut off.
His body was found by an engine driver who saw it on the line and informed the police.
An open verdict was returned at his inquest with the Coroner noting that while it seemed odd that Sidney Dyas had been on the line and that the circumstances were certainly unusual, that there was not sufficient evidence to justify a decision that he had taken his own life.
Sidney Dyas had lived in Palmer Street in Cadoxton and had had three children,. He had been a foreman a nearby precast concrete factory.
