The body of a newly-born child was found in a pond at Moss Hall Side Farm in Moss Side near Lytham.
An open verdict was returned.
A policeman at the inquest said that the remains of the child had only included its head, shoulders and arms. He said that the remains were found in 12 inches of water after the height of the pond had been reduced from a depth of about 3 feet through land drainage.
He noted that there were no reports of babies being missed in the district.
The pathologist that examined the child's remains said that he thought that its death had occurred about five or six months earlier.
